HRG beta 1 is an isoform from the Neuregulin/Heregulin family of structurally related polypeptide growth factors which are derived from alternatively spliced genes (NRG1, NRG2, NRG3 and NRG4). To date, there are over 14 soluble and transmembrane proteins derived from the NRG1 gene. The receptors for all NRG1 isoforms are the ERBB family of tyrosine kinase transmembrane receptors. Through interaction with ERBB receptors, NRG1 isoforms induce the growth and differentialtion of epithelial, neuronal, glial, and other types of cells. |
